Abstract
Digital civic engagement in Tanzania, particularly within the framework of electoral reform, represents a critical intersection of technology, governance, and citizen participation. This paper examines the mechanisms employed by citizens, civil society organizations (CSOs), and political actors through digital platforms to influence electoral processes and advocate for reforms. It explores mainstream social media channels (WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, X) and specialized tools such as the Ushahidi-based platform UCHAGUZI TZ used for sharing political information, organizing campaigns, real-time reporting of election irregularities, and mobilizing public opinion on reform agendas.
