Abstract
This research explores the artistic use of Islamic religion in Ahmed Rafiq Al-Mahdaw’s poetry. Religious symbols and concepts serve as artistic tools supporting national and ethical themes. Religion is not just devotional content but a means to strengthen the poetic message. The employment stems from religious, psychological, political, and cultural motives reflecting the poet’s awareness of his homeland’s struggles under occupation. Al-Mahdawi maintains classical poetic forms while renewing content, creating a bridge between heritage and contemporary, and reinforcing reality, and strength.
